The Generational Alliance (GA), a project of the Tides Center, is a national collaborative network that connects progressive youth and student organizations, across sector and issue, to build a long-term, strategic and integrated movement for social change. Position Summary:
This position is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced, self-motivated and creative online communications professional to support the efforts of progressive youth and student organizations nation-wide. The Project Director will be responsible for maximizing the effectiveness and reach of the Future 5000 online directory and networking website. In addition to promoting and maintaining the site, position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, online strategy development, content development, data analysis/report production and research and implementation of new ideas to improve the usability and usefulness of the site and increase traffic. The Project Director will be supervised by the GA Director and supported by a volunteer Advisory Committee.
Responsibilities:
- Manage an online strategy that supports the project’s overall goals and oversee all aspects of its implementation
- Manage website development to incorporate new features and functionality
- Build strategic partnerships to acquire compelling content, features, and online tools that support the website strategy.
- Expand and manage current site and material designs and lead appropriate redesigns when needed
- Track and report on emerging technologies or applications and the opportunities to integrate them into our operations and activities
- Create, develop and manage content for project’s web presence (requires working with content management software)
- Track and report on all site metrics
- Utilize site data to develop dynamic reports on the state of the progressive youth movement
- Work with Alliance staff to develop a plan and the tactics for a consistent and concerted online mobilization, outreach and membership development.
- Produce and distribute a regular e-newsletter for site members.
- Create and manage online and offline outreach initiatives
- Develop and maintain the overall constituent management strategy, and lead integration across systems
- Develop and maintain a plan around data integrity
Required Skills:
- 2+ years experience, including strategy development, content acquisition, and website development
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Some knowledge of HTML and experience with popular content management systems (Plone, Drupal, Joomla, etc.)
- Functional understanding of Internet technology and communication. Experience with blogs, social networking sites, and email list communications
- Solid project management experience
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and perform problem analysis and resolution at strategic and functional levels
- Ability to work independently and with a high degree of self-motivation and discipline
