Video Games and Violence

Aaron McGruder uses his wit to go after politicians who grandstand for "values" by attacking violent video games in the latest Boondocks.

I've never understood this as an issue. Violence and crime among young people is way down from that of previous generations. Yet every year, some politician - usually a democrat - goes after video games like a fevered puritan looking for a witch.

Lately, that person has been Hillary Clinton. Before her, it was Tipper Gore.

Why are Democrats so determined to drive away their biggest supporters? Why are they so blind to the basic facts? Why are they so clueless when it comes to the power and importance of culture?

Not really looking for answers here . .. I know the answers. Just needed a quick rant.

Zell Liberbush

How can you forget that Holy Joe was a part of that stupidness.

He is one of the most offensive politicans to young voters. Under 30s know that stupids like Stevens (R-tubes) deserve our mockery, and crazies like cat cadaver Frankenstein Frist deserves our bile, but what really rankles us about Zell Lieberman is how he can't deliver the irony his insipid branding requires.

Joementum? Are you kidding? Who even cares! That Droopy-dog-faced, fiveheaded doofus could never be ironic enough to pull off something like "Joementum" for an audience of Colbert fans and Onion readers.

It would be one thing if he was uncool. That can be forgiven. What is unforgivable is that he reeks of effort - the pathetic trying too hard sweats out of Liberman for Lieberman.

It really hurts the Democrat brand. Which is why he must NEVER, EVER get a (D) next to his name. He is (CfL). Dems in Connecticut voted against him twice this year.

Morality

I was thinking about this the other night after talking to someone about morality and politics and religion. I'm not even slightly religious, but I do consider myself to have a very strong moral code, a good sense of ethics, and my own Orthodix Hippy connection to the "spiritual" world.

I find that very often it is these things which underlie my political passions. It irks me to no end that Hillary Clinton supported a war that's killed hundreds of thousands of real live people, but thinks she's displaying moral character by grandstanding against Grand Theft Auto.

It would be funny if it weren't so damn serious.
