a historical first of many thirds~

Glad to see the Obama youthroots movement continuing to gain recognition for its early momentum, size, and energy. No doubt this election has some real potential to be quite a historical first of many thirds….and even more important. the birth an unprecedented generational call to action! Obama doesn’t seem to grasp the full potential of youthroots yet, nor has he come out and embraced this youthroots movement as completely as he will need to, but there is plenty of time ahead.

Towards the end of the article the author writes:

“In a Chicago Reader interview from 1995, Barack Obama wondered, “What if a politician were to see his job as that of an organizer?”“

Left me wondering: have we ever had a Presidential “organizer” before, and what would one look like at this point in American history???

great article

thanks for the link

1 more thing...

… “youthroots”

What do you think? I think I like it.

I'm pretty good with it

I’m pretty good with Youthroots as a term. It certainly beats young voters, young people, or youth as a descriptor for the engagement of the under 30 crowd in politics.

There’s a certain sense of power that is implied in the term. I wouldn’t be upset to see it gain some traction in the media and among campaigns.

youthroots - a name whose time has come~

i think it’s an extremely apt word that we’ll continue to see enter into the common currency of the Movement. i’ve got an article in the works about it that i hope will make a splash!
