Aren’t we proud of our kids when they nag us to quit smoking, turn off the lights, register to vote! So, what if we had the added responsibility of safeguarding and exercising their right to vote? Would that make us more likely to show up at the polling booth, if we were casting not just our own vote, but our under-aged children’s? Check it out: www.strongfamiliesinc.org

Sure, kids are “too young to vote” (even though the young people in this video seem a lot better informed and thoughtful than many “grown-ups” you and I know). But, beyond the definition of voting as choosing between candidates –which requires a minimum amount of discernment–, our vote is also the best tool we have to defend our interests in the political arena. And who is in greater need of having their interests defended than our dependent children? And who will normally be saddled the longest with the consequences of a poor electoral choice? Let’s move on to true universal suffrage: One Child, One Vote!
