Not bad

I like.

Thanks for posting!

Kinda condescending?

Not this one especially, but this entire series, starting with the awful "don't vote" ad. Does anyone else feel like they're being talked down to, as if this is part of the "youth vote failed to win for Kerry" meme?

Maggie Gyllenhaal talks about how she was too buzy/lazy to vote when she was 18 or 19, but she's not a Millennial, is she? (we can quibble about when Millennials begin, but I think 1977 by most measures is Gen X). I had the same thought when I saw the "don't vote" ad; a bunch of Gen X actors who remember how apathetic their generation was in their young adult years imposing upon the most civic-minded generation since the Greatest Generation their memories of slackerdom.

At least the ads with the "rich white guys" were funny.

I was going to mention that

I was going to mention that at some point, maybe in a post election round up... the narritive seems to center around this mistake that young voters will get drunk and forget. You hear this SOOO much, so this "don't vote" idea kinda perpetuates that...

Our problem isn't that young voters don't vote, its that young voters aren't able to really have adequate access to registration and updated registration. Those who are registered vote 81.6% of the time, right? So, this fake "don't vote" conversation is kinda lost on youth because it presupposes that they ... don't vote... when in reality they do...

does that make any sense?

anyway - Maggie is hawt... so thats all I have to say about that
