Nevada Caucus Open Thread
Same deal as always. If you're on the ground in Nevada or on your couch watching the results come in, use this thread to share stories, incoming data, etc.
Update: Through my fellowship, I've now got a gig covering the youth vote for the Washington Independent. Here's my story about today's Nevada Caucus.

Young Voter PAC in Vegas
I'm getting updates via email/text message from the crew at Young Voter PAC. Here's what they see:
More from Young Voter PAC
More from YOung Voter PAC
YDA at the media center
I am hoping most of the media folks are out observing caucuses because there are definitely fewer outlets here than in IA and NH. The set-up at the Cashman Center is fantastic though -- this is where the media are setting up as well as the Nevada Democratic Party. There's a hotline for questions about the caucus, and phones are ringing off the hook. Then there are tons of long tables set up for media folks, bloggers, campaigns, and other interested parties (like us!) to have room to work. Big fancy screens at the front of the room that say "Winning in the West" with an American flag in the shape of Nevada and photos of the candidates, just waiting to get caucus results up next to their heads.
Reports from the NY, NY precinct
So I'm hearing that the Clinton folks running teh NY, NY precinct in Vegas are challenging everything and even tried to deny some young voter organizers (with press credentials) access to the caucus.
Some preliminary results
Clinton- 93
Obama-69
Edwars- none
Undecided-3
This is from the precinct where Young Voter PAC is.
Rumor and innuendo around the press room...
We're hearing 45-35 for Clinton, according to entrance polls (which are notoriously unreliable).
BIG turnout.
Lots of discussion about potential voter suppression at hotel and casino caucus sites. This is something we all need to keep an key on for many reasons but also because it feeds into stereotypes about heavy-handed union bosses rigging elections -- not something we need perpetuated as we help folks organize.
Nevada called for Hillary
Networks and Politico have called it for Hillary.
At 1:17 with 78% reporting, here are the numbers from the state party:
Clinton 50.26%
Edwards 4.19%
Kucinich .05%
Obama 45.25%
Uncommitted .24%
Also, props to the Nevada Democratic Party. It looks like, on their first major try, they pulled off a very well-run caucus.
no surprise there - are you
no surprise there - are you looking at the demographic breakdown of the entrance polls - its old people and women all over the place...
