Clear Channel Protects Limbaugh's Smear of Iraq Veterans

Update II: Damn.

Update: I just got an email about this from the DSCC. They are running a letter writing campaign against Limbaugh targeted at Clear Channel's CEO. That's great and all, but why not push an action with a little more teeth. When MoveOn ran its Petraeus ad in the NY Times, the Republicans manuevered the Senate to condemn the grassroots organization. Limbaugh's show runs on Armed Forces Radio. Can't the Senate and/or House vote to pull his show, or funding for his show, from that network? Republicans play hardball on this. So should we.

Clear Channel, the media company you love to hate, has just given us one more reason why they are an unfit arbiter of our culture and media.

Last week, Rush Limbaugh, in response to a caller, labeled all soldiers and veterans who opposed the continuation of the Iraq war "phony soldiers." In response, Brian McGough, a Purple Heart recipient, created the following ad for VoteVets:

This week, VoteVets tried to air audio version of this ad during Rush Limbaugh's show. This is the response they received from Clear Channel. Apparently Clear Channel is OK with slandering the troops as long as the money keeps rolling in from Rush's show.
