About Me

Emanuel Pleitez was born and raised in the Eastside of Los Angeles. He is the oldest of two, raised by his single mother, who immigrated from Mexico. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in El Sereno and earned his B.A. from Stanford University.

Most recently, Emanuel served on President Barack Obama's Transition Team for the Treasury Department. He previously worked for Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa during his tenure on the Los Angeles City Council and for U.S. Senators Tom Daschle and Hillary Clinton on the Senate Democratic Steering and Coordination Committee. In the private sector, Emanuel has worked as a Financial Analyst for an investment bank.

As a first-generation college graduate, Emanuel is committed to increasing educational opportunity. As such, he has been involved with the Quest Scholars Program at Stanford to develop partnerships aimed at supporting the educational success of low-income high school students throughout the country. He also co-founded the Alumni Foundation at Woodrow Wilson High School.

Emanuel serves as a Board Member for a number of leading civic organizations including the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, Voto Latino, Creating Economic Opportunities for Women, and the Salvadoran American Leadership and Education Fund (SALEF).

Emanuel currently resides in El Sereno.
